This study is motivated by the decline in students’ manners and politeness, highlighting the urgency of strengthening Islamic character through formal education. In this context, exemplary teachers play a strategic role as central figures in the internalization of Islamic values. This research focuses on MI Muhammadiyah 02 Pondok Modern Muhammadiyah Paciran, Lamongan, which consistently develops character education based on teachers’ role modeling. The objectives of this study are to analyze the role of exemplary teachers in shaping students’ Islamic character, to identify the methods employed, and to evaluate their effectiveness in restoring students’ manners and politeness. This study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants include the head of the madrasah, teachers, students, and parents. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teachers’ role modeling is systematically designed in line with the madrasah’s vision. Its implementation is reflected in teachers’ discipline, polite speech, personal care, habituation of religious practices, and the integration of Islamic values in learning. The Uswatun Hasanah method, reinforced by educational rewards and punishments, has proven effective in improving students’ religious practices, manners, honesty, and independence.
